sales bans on Apple's iPad and iPhone ruled to Motorola is overturned

Apple overturns Motorola's iPad and iPhone sales bans

Apple has overturned a sales halt imposed on some of its products in the German market. An appeals court agreed to a temporary suspension of the Motorola-enforced ban when the tech giant made a new licence payment offer.

Apple was forced to remove several iPad and iPhone models from German stores earlier today after its US rival enforced a patent injunction related to data packet transfer technology, known as GPRS.

However, iPhone and iPad users in the territory could still face the loss of their 'push' email iCloud service as Motorola won a separate patent victory pertaining to the tech.

"All iPad and iPhone models will be back on sale through Apple's online store in Germany shortly," Apple said in a statement.

"Apple appealed this ruling because Motorola repeatedly refuses to license this patent to Apple on reasonable terms, despite having declared it an industry standard patent seven years ago."
